A Study On My Self Worth with Yxng Dxnzl

Do you know who you are? What’s your name? what’s your worth?… Take some time and meditate on yourself

Have you every felt your favourite artist always manages to drop a project that seems to perfectly fit that describe the current moment you are in life? It feels like they receive a batman signal, “Ninz is going through it, let’s drop something to help her deal with period her life”. This is exactly how i feel with this new MI album.

August 23rd 2018, is a day i have said i will remember forever. I made not one but two big life decisions. The following day (August 24th) like the superhero he is, my favourite artist MI released his eighth project; A study on Self Worth: Yxng Dxnzl.

A study on Self Worth follows MI on a journey of self retrospection. He grants listeners access to his deepest thoughts. The thoughts you are often scared to say out loud, you know the ones you write in your journal/ phone notes and hope no one ever reads it. He discusses his battle with depression, fears of abandonment , relationship fears, personal insecurities and much more. We get to know MI on a a much deeper level. A few of the tracks end with some deep conversations with someone i am assuming could possibly be his therapist.

This album reminds me of J Cole’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive album.

The ten track album features Tay Iwar, Niyola, Odunsi, Cina Soul, Lorraine Chia and Lady Donli.

My favourite tracks so far are:

  • The self evaluation of Yxng Dxnzel
  • Love Never Fails But Where There Prophecies Love Will Cease To Remain
  • Stop! Never Second Guess Yourself
  • +-

I saw MI tweet that he may have committed career suicide with this album. On the contrary Mr Abaga. You proved why you are Africa Rapper Number 1. You have showcased your growth and your gift for storytelling. This is an album your fans needed. This is the album I NEEDED.

I know that i am plenty blessed. But I carry an emptiness .. Lately i have been acting strong, but i have been at my weakest. I haven’t been happy in such awhile and i am looking for something to make me smile

I am still questioning if i made the right choice, but one thing this album has taught me is I have to believe in myself. It is okay to be scared but i have got this! Most importantly i am ready to face my demons.

I know what i want and I am ready to make it happen. “Love yourself baby, that’s the remedy”~ MI Abaga

Love and Light,

Ninz
