I have complied a list of the albums I absolutely can not wait to be released. As soon as the purchase link becomes available i will jump up and buy, no questions asked . Some of these albums are certainly due for release this year , whilst the others are albums i am hoping get released this year.
If you have been following the blog for awhile now , a few of the artists will not be a surprise at all.
I have added a few tracks from each artist for your enjoyment 🙂
Mi – Chairman
Mister Incredible, my first Nigerian love! His word play is out of this world, I think he has the best flow in the industry. ‘Nigeria’s very own Kanye West for the west ‘ !! His third album ‘The Chairman’ was scheduled for release last October but was pushed back so it didn’t clash with label mate Ice Prince’s “Fire of Zamani ” . It has been 2 years since his last mixtape and 3 years since his last album … Please i don’t think i can wait anymore, we cannot leave 2014 without a new album Mr Abaga !! I know you will make me proud , Talk About It is still a classic album !!
Wizkid – Title unknown
Wizkid’s sophomore album was originally schedule for release last summer. Unfortunatly the album was pushed back and we are still yet to be told a definite release date . This album was the most anticipated album in 2013, everyone was patiently waiting and as the clock struck 12am on the 31st Dec 2013 there was an outcry all over twitter. People are starting to compare the album to Dr Dre’s Detox album lmaoo . No matter how hard the wait may be , I know Wizkid is going to bless us with a spectacular album, has he failed us yet? 2 years later and you can still play his debut album Superstar and start dancing . In the meantime he continues to keep all his fans happy with his various singles, freestyles and features.
Olamide & Phyno – 2 Kings
Two big heavy weights are coming together for a collaboration album. They brought us the monster street hit “Ghost mode” and then “dope money “. This would be Olamide’s 4th album? And I will be you any money he will probably release another solo album this year. Olamide and Phyno both confirmed the project a few days ago via their Instagram pages. Will this be the rap album of the year? The streets are already comparing it to Watch The Throne. Excited cannot even begin to describe how I feel about this album. I have no doubt it will be bloody !! And change indigenous rap forever.
Praiz – Rich & Famous
Praiz first caught my attention after he featured on M.I’s Epic. I later discovered he was the first runner up in the first season of MTN’s Project Fame West Africa.
Praiz’s voice is absolutely beautiful and his rendition of Rihanna’s stay literally blew me away the first time i heard it. His song ‘I Love You ‘is one of my many wedding songs (dear future husband, hint hint). I have high hopes for this album. The main reason why he stands out to me is because his songs tell beautiful stories of love and happiness. This is a breath of fresh air to the usual songs about women and partying. Our radio waves are so polluted with pongolo music that we forget that Nigeria still has talented musicians that can hit the sweetest notes and evoke deep emotion. This album will be my soulful album for those chilled evenings.
Chidinma
It’s Miss Kedike for your speaker”! Chidinma is the winner of MTN Project Fame West Africa – season 3. You should not be fooled by her small size, her voice is powerful and she has proved her versatility on tracks such as Emi Ni Baller. Chidinima, is that’ girl next door’ that you cannot help but like; she is talented, sweet, humble and funny.
Seyi Shay
Seyi Shay was a member of a girl group, managed by Matthew Knowles. She can sing, she can dance and she is stunning .She is also a talented song writer and has written songs for Mel C and Chipmunk. In addition Seyi has also supported Beyoncé on her UK tour and was a supporting act for Rick Ross and Chris Brown. Seyi will definitely be a success, she has not been in the Nigerian music scene for long but she has already made a huge impact. I expect her debut album to shake up the music industry.
Shaydee
I stumbled on Shaydee on a DJ Dee Money mixtape . He later signed to EME and featured heavily on the EME album. Wizkid recently featured Shaydee on his latest single ‘Number one Lover ‘(take a listen here). Shaydee’s voice blends well on any beat given to him. I hope we don’t have to wait to long for a debut album , with a strong label such as EME he is sure to go far
